For my Peruvian Inca Orchid, I use a moisturizing lotion recommended by my vet. I apply it twice a week, focusing on dry areas. I also make sure to give her regular baths with a gentle, hydrating shampoo that helps hydrate her skin. It's important to monitor her skin for any irritation since their coat is quite short and can be sensitive. Keeping her well-hydrated from the inside with a good diet also seems to help.

Mine does the same thing! It's almost like she has a personal blanket preference, too. I've noticed she seeks out the softest ones in the house. Plus, I've read that these dogs have a unique sensitivity to temperature, so that might explain her behavior. It's become a little ritual of ours, wrapping her up and watching her enjoy it. I wouldn't trade those moments for anything!

I feel you, Nate! My Peruvian Inca Orchid has such sensitive skin, I didn’t think about sunscreen until a friend suggested it. They can sunburn easily, especially on their noses and ears. I found a good dog-safe sunscreen online that works well for her. It’s funny to see her all lathered up, but it definitely helps keep her comfortable.

Absolutely, my dogs wear sweaters when the temperatures drop. The Peruvian Inca Orchid has a short coat that doesn't provide much insulation, so a cozy sweater keeps them warm and comfortable. I also find it adorable to see them all bundled up, and it’s nice to have them protected during chilly evening walks.

Definitely, I would get a Peruvian Inca Orchid again. They are such unique dogs with an incredible temperament. Their affectionate nature makes them great companions. I've found them to be quite intelligent and eager to please, which makes training a pleasure. Plus, their hairlessness is perfect for those who are allergic. Just be ready for some extra sun protection for their skin!
