I can relate to that. My Russian Black Terrier has a calm demeanor and is always scanning the environment. One time, we were at the park, and instead of rushing to play with other dogs, he sat back and watched them for a good 15 minutes. It was like he was sizing everyone up, assessing who to approach and who to ignore. I’ve read that this breed tends to be naturally cautious and protective, which I think contributes to their watchful nature.
