One funny thing is how my Hanoverian insists on 'helping' me with laundry. He’ll drag the clothes out of the basket and lay on them, thinking he’s being useful! It ends up being a big mess, but his enthusiasm is hard to resist.

I’d recommend a Plott Hound for sure! They’re very loyal and loving. My Plott loves to cuddle after a long day of exploring the woods. However, they can be stubborn and independent. Regular training is key because they’ll test your patience. Their hunting background means they thrive when they have a job or task to do, so consider activities like agility or scent work to keep them engaged.

I can relate! My Plott Hound would spend hours tracking scents if I let him. He gets so focused you can see him zoning in on the trail. I sometimes have to pull him away for playtime.

Oh, I have a hilarious story with my Hanoverian Scenthound! We were at the park, and he caught a whiff of something irresistible. He took off, and I had to run to keep up. He ended up tracking down a kid's ice cream cone that had fallen on the grass. Watching him sniff it out was priceless, and he looked so proud of himself when he finally found it. I have a pretty good level of trust with my Plott off-leash, especially in secure areas. They have a great sense of smell, so as long as I keep an eye on them, they usually stick close. I’ve noticed that maintaining a strong bond through training helps build that trust. When we go hiking, I let them roam a bit in safe spots, and they love it! However, I always keep a leash handy in case we encounter other wildlife.
