Q&A
answer · Schipperke
My Schipperke, Max, loves to play hide and seek with his toys. He'll actually try to 'hide' them under blankets or cushions and then prance around as if he's outsmarted us. It's hilarious to watch him strategize where to put them. He's got this little 'triumphant' dance he does when he thinks he's hidden them well. One time, he even tried to bury his favorite ball in the flowerpot! It's such a quirky habit that keeps us entertained.
answer · Schipperke
I only let my Schipperke off leash in secure areas. They have a strong prey drive and will chase anything that moves. Mine took off after a squirrel once and it took me a while to catch him! It’s important to train them well before considering off-leash time. They can be great with recall, but distractions are a big challenge.
question · Schipperke
My trainer suggested rewarding quiet moments instead of only correcting barking. Has that worked for anyone?
answer · Schipperke
My Schipperke, Charlie, is exactly the same! He barks and runs to the window as soon as someone steps foot on the street. It's like he has a sixth sense, and I swear he has a better watch than my camera.

Would you recommend a Schipperke?
answer · Schipperke
Totally normal! My Schipperke is quite the chatterbox, too. They have a lot of opinions about everything, from what’s on TV to who’s walking by outside. It’s just part of their quirky personality.
