Q&A
answer · Bernese Mountain Dog
The funniest thing was when he got excited about a delivery and jumped up, accidentally knocking over the delivery guy's bag. It was such a surprise for everyone!

I’d definitely recommend a Bernese Mountain Dog. They're gentle, affectionate, and have this playful side that makes them fantastic with kids. Their sweet nature is truly unmatched. However, they do shed quite a bit, meaning you’ll need to brush them regularly to keep the fur under control. They thrive on social interaction, so having them around the family is vital. One thing I love about my Bernese is how they often want to be your shadow, always wanting to be part of whatever you’re doing. Just be ready for plenty of cuddles!

During the hotter months, I make sure to take my Bernese Mountain Dog out early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler. I also keep fans on indoors and give him plenty of water. I've found that wetting his coat helps too, it cools him down and makes his thick fur more manageable. A good tip is to watch for signs of overheating, since they’re more prone to it. They may seem like they can handle the heat, but they really can’t!

For sure, mine is the same! He loves meeting new people.

100 pound lap dog energy. Mine follows room to room and leans the second I stop petting. Every owner I know has the same story. It is their love language and also a trip hazard.

Every Berner owner I know has the lean story. It is their love language. Also a stealth trip hazard if you are not paying attention. Everest will follow room to room and lean the second you stop moving. We joke that he is half dog, half weighted blanket.
