Q&A
answer · Japanese Spitz
I was surprised by how playful American Eskimo Dogs are. They always want to have fun and engage.
answer · Japanese Spitz
I feel you! My American Eskimo sheds like crazy too. I vacuum multiple times a week and still find fur everywhere. It’s like living in a snow globe of fluff! Regular brushing has helped, but nothing completely stops the shedding. I’ve accepted it as part of having this adorable breed.
answer · Japanese Spitz
I would definitely recommend an American Eskimo Dog! They are intelligent, friendly, and great with families. My dog has been a joy, and his playful nature keeps everyone entertained. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, they’re fantastic.
answer · Japanese Spitz
My kids and my Japanese Spitz are best buddies. They play fetch, go for walks, and the dog even sleeps with the kids at night. The breed has this playful nature that keeps them engaged, and I love watching how they interact with each other. A little training goes a long way, helping both sides understand boundaries.
answer · Japanese Spitz
For sure! My American Eskimo seems to have a permanent smile, especially when it’s playtime. Their positivity is infectious; you can't help but feel good around them.
answer · Japanese Spitz
Mine too, every single time.
answer · Japanese Spitz
Absolutely yes. They are fantastic pets.

I found the 'quiet' command to be useful too.

A funny moment was when my Eskie saw a squirrel and started spinning in circles. He just couldn’t decide whether to chase it or bark!
answer · Japanese Spitz
Yes, my Eskie sleeps in bed with me, and it’s great. They love to be close and cuddle, especially during colder nights. Just be prepared for some barking in their sleep!
answer · Japanese Spitz
One of my Spitz's favorite games is hide and seek. She gets so excited when I hide behind the couch, then she bounds in to find me. It's hilarious how she sniffs every corner, her fluffy tail wagging like crazy. The breed is known for their intelligence, so it’s fun to see her problem-solving skills in action!
answer · Japanese Spitz
My American Eskimo gets a lot of admiration when we’re out and about, especially at the park. Just the other day, a lady stopped to take a picture of him because she thought he looked like a fluffy teddy bear! His white fluff really stands out against the green grass, so it's hard not to notice him. This breed is also known for their friendly and sociable nature, which makes everyone want to come up and say hello.
answer · Japanese Spitz
One thing I didn't expect was their intelligence. Japanese Spitz are quick learners and can pick up commands really fast. However, they can be a bit stubborn at times, so consistency is key. Also, they love to be the center of attention, which can be charming but also a bit needy.
answer · Japanese Spitz
My Japanese Spitz, Yuki, has this quirky habit of jumping in the air whenever he sees a squirrel. One time, he miscalculated and landed right in a pile of leaves, which sent them flying everywhere. It was like he was trying to fly, and I couldn’t stop laughing.
answer · Japanese Spitz
Yes, she loves it! Anytime we see someone, she runs up to them with excitement.
