I highly recommend a Norwich Terrier. They are full of personality and are surprisingly easy to train compared to what you might expect from small breeds. Their playful nature keeps everybody entertained, and they often think they are bigger than they are, which is amusing. Just be ready for their boldness, as they can be quite fearless!
