Q&A
answer · Saint Bernard
I totally agree with the vet's suggestion. I've noticed my Saint Bernard enjoys multiple shorter walks more. It keeps him active and less prone to the lethargy that can come with longer outings. It also makes bathroom breaks easier, especially during the winter!
answer · Saint Bernard
Saint Bernards are amazing dogs, but they do require a good amount of care due to their size. They thrive on companionship and can be quite goofy and playful. It's important to note that they drool a lot and may shed quite a bit as well. If you’re okay with that, you'll love having one in your home. They are also excellent watchdogs and incredibly loyal.

Every Saint Bernard I've met has that lap dog mentality. My girl, Bella, is over 120 pounds and still insists on sitting on my lap while I'm on the couch. It's a struggle! They are such gentle giants, and while they might seem massive, they really do believe they are tiny and can fit anywhere. It's part of their charm, I guess! Just be prepared for some serious cuddles. If you need tips on managing their size, you might find some good advice here: https://www.akc.org.

I do let my Saint Bernard on the couch sometimes. Their size makes it a bit of a challenge, but they’re just so affectionate. I have a big blanket on the couch to keep things clean, and it also gives him a comfy spot to flop down.
