Mine is also super smart! My Mudi figured out the puzzle toy in just minutes.

I'd absolutely recommend a Mudi!

I believe mental exercise is actually more crucial for my Mudi than just running around. They are naturally clever and need stimulation to stay happy. I’ll often set up interactive toys or teach him new tricks, and the difference in his behavior afterward is incredible. He seems more relaxed and satisfied after a good mental workout than after a long walk. It’s definitely a balance, but I find the brain games are key.

Absolutely, my Mudi picks up tricks in no time at all! I taught him to roll over one day, and by the next, he was staring at me expectantly like ‘what's next?’ They thrive on challenges and I’ve found that keeping training sessions short but frequent helps a lot. Our breed is known for their intelligence, and if they aren’t mentally stimulated, they can get pretty restless. It’s fun trying to stay one step ahead of him!

I usually let my Mudi run off-leash at the park.

My Mudi, Bella, figured out how to open the back door on her own. We didn't even realize it at first, but one day she just pushed it with her nose and walked out to the yard. It’s impressive how clever they are; they have this natural problem-solving ability that never ceases to amaze me. Mudis are also known for being quick learners, so it's not surprising she picked that up.

My Mudi is a bit reserved with strangers at first, which can be surprising given how affectionate they are with family. They generally need time to assess new people, but once they feel secure, they show their friendly side. I’ve found that consistent socialization helps them feel more relaxed. Their strong herding instincts can make them a bit protective, so patience in introductions is essential.
