My family says I shouldn't pick him up every time there's a big dog around. What would you do?

I totally get that worry. Miniature Pinschers can be a bit feisty, and they often think they're bigger than they actually are. It's important to teach them confidence, but overprotecting can sometimes make them more anxious around larger dogs. I usually assess the situation and if my Min Pin seems uneasy, I’ll comfort him by picking him up, but not every time. Balance is key.

I would pick him up if it seems necessary.

It's a tricky balance. My Min Pin was super anxious around big dogs at first, but I worked with him to feel more secure. If he starts to get scared, I’ll pick him up, but I also try to let him face his fears sometimes, so he builds confidence.

You don’t always need to pick him up. It might be better to let him stand his ground, as long as he isn’t in real danger. Min Pins are known for their brave little hearts, and he'll likely surprise you with his confidence.
