I understand why your trainer advised against dog parks for your Perro de Presa Canario. They can be a bit overwhelming with so many other dogs around. I’ve found it’s safer to socialize my dog in controlled environments, like private playdates. However, if you feel comfortable, I sometimes take mine during quieter times when fewer dogs are around. It’s important to gauge their temperament and how they react to other dogs. This breed can be naturally protective, so knowing their limits is key.

I wouldn’t go to dog parks either, especially with a Perro de Presa Canario.

I can see why some trainers recommend skipping dog parks for Perro de Presa Canarios. They have such strong instincts and can be protective of their territory. I prefer controlled playdates or training sessions instead. This breed thrives in structured environments, so I find it’s better for their socialization. Plus, we can focus on positive behaviors and reinforce training without distractions.

I've had mixed experiences with dog parks and my Perro de Presa Canario, but I mostly avoid them. This breed can be dominant, and I find that they do better in smaller, more controlled settings. A small group of familiar dogs works wonders for socialization. I do recommend finding local breed meetups or training classes that cater to their specific needs. It allows for safe interactions and helps build confidence.
