Q&A
question · Swedish Vallhund
My trainer told me herding breeds need a job, even in a regular home. Do you agree?
answer · Swedish Vallhund
Letting my Swedish Vallhund off-leash has been a journey. They are energetic and curious dogs, so I only do so in safe environments where I can trust their recall. They have a strong herding instinct and will often chase after anything that moves, so it’s essential to train them well. My Vallhund loves to explore, and when he’s off-leash, I let him roam in secure areas, which helps him blow off steam. Socialization and training have made a huge difference for us!
question · Swedish Vallhund
Would you recommend a Swedish Vallhund?
answer · Swedish Vallhund
Absolutely! My Swedish Vallhund tries to herd everyone, too. It's in their nature to have a strong instinct to gather and manage their pack. I even catch him nudging the kids to get them moving, as if he’s their little leader! They really thrive on being involved and active with the family.
answer · Swedish Vallhund
Totally! Mine is right there, hoping for any dropped morsels.

Once, my Vallhund chased after a squirrel and then did a funny little bark.
