Q&A
answer · Kangal Shepherd Dog
Getting another Kangal would definitely be a temptation for me. They are just so loyal and intelligent. My Kangal is great with my kids and has a natural instinct to protect them. That being said, they need plenty of exercise and mental challenges to keep them from getting bored, especially since they were bred to guard livestock.

My Akbash usually just watches new people.
answer · Kangal Shepherd Dog
I never expected my Akbash to be so gentle either. He has this knack for being calm around nervous pets. Once, I brought home a kitten, and he just lay there while she crawled all over him. It’s amazing how affectionate they can be despite their size. I realize that temperament varies, but it’s a lovely quality.

I definitely think they can adapt to smaller spaces if given enough exercise. My Akbash loves his daily walks and playtime, which helps keep him satisfied.
