I highly recommend Rat Terriers! They are very affectionate and love to be around people. You’ll need to give them plenty of attention and exercise, though. They do great with families and can be playful with kids. Just keep some toys handy, as they tend to get bored easily if not engaged.

He does well with other dogs, but I keep an eye on him. Jack Russells can be quite assertive. Socializing him early made a huge difference.

My Rat Terrier is lightning fast as well! They seem to have a superpower when it comes to snacks. I dropped a piece of cheese once, and it was gone before I could even react! They have a natural instinct for hunting, so it's in their nature to be quick.

One time my Russell Terrier stole a whole pizza off the table when we turned our backs for a second. He jumped up and grabbed it with his mouth, and it was gone in a flash. I couldn't believe he had the nerve to do that!

It's tough to find toys that withstand a Rat Terrier's powerful jaws! I've had success with the Tuffy toys, which are designed to be extra durable. The ones with a strong outer layer tend to last longer, but it’s a gamble. My pup still manages to find the weak spots eventually.
