Is it just mine, or does your Rat Terrier think every backyard needs another hole?

It's definitely not just yours. My Rat Terrier seems to think every yard is a construction site. They have this instinct to dig, and it's in their nature as hunters. They love to create their own little adventures, sometimes leading to unexpected backyard landscapes. I've learned to keep an eye on mine during playtime to prevent a mini excavation. Just be ready for lots of dirt and some new 'decoration' in the yard.

Yes, mine does that too! It's like they think they're helping with yard work. I read that Rat Terriers have a natural instinct to dig from their hunting days, so it's something to embrace rather than fight against.

Sounds familiar! My Rat Terrier has a digging obsession too. Every time I'm outside, he makes it his mission to find something underground. It’s entertaining until you realize you have a new crater in your garden. I’ve found that giving him designated digging spots can help ease that need a little.

Oh, for sure! My Rat Terrier digs like he’s on a treasure hunt. It’s both amusing and slightly frustrating because I have to patch up the holes consistently. I’ve read that this digging behavior stems from their ancestry, as they were used to hunt small animals. Just make sure to provide plenty of playtime to keep them entertained.

Absolutely! My Rat Terrier constantly digs holes, and it seems like it's his favorite pastime. I think they just have that instinct to explore and unearth things. It's more of a breeding habit, they were originally bred for hunting, after all.
