Q&A
answer · Alaskan Malamute
I’d say the biggest challenge is managing their high energy levels. They need daily exercise and mental games. When they don’t get enough stimulation, they can create their own adventures, which usually leads to trouble.
answer · Alaskan Malamute
My Malamute howls whenever someone plays the piano. It’s like he thinks he’s joining the band, and it cracks me up every time.
answer · Alaskan Malamute
I think it depends on a few factors, including training and socialization. My Malamute has a great recall and is very responsive to commands. Still, I always recommend being cautious. They can be very stubborn, and if they see something interesting, they might bolt. So, off-leash is fine for us in open areas, but I wouldn’t recommend it in crowded places.

I can relate! My Klee Kai is always up to something funny. Sometimes he’ll even try to 'talk' back when he doesn’t want to do something. It makes for a lively household, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
answer · Alaskan Malamute
My biggest challenge has been their stubbornness. Training sessions can be tough since they often want to do things their way!
answer · Alaskan Malamute
My Alaskan Klee Kai definitely has superhero hearing! Whenever I’m preparing treats, he can be in another room, and somehow he knows. He comes sprinting in with this adorable expression, as if he can smell them from miles away. It's impressive how aware they are of their surroundings. They are quite the little alarm systems, always alert. I love that he seems to know what’s going on at all times!
answer · Alaskan Malamute
If I'd known how much attention they need, I might have been more prepared. My Klee Kai definitely demands a lot of playtime and interaction.
answer · Alaskan Malamute
I've definitely underestimated my Malamute's strength. He can pull me along when he's excited.
question · Alaskan Malamute
Do you trust your Klee Kai off leash?
question · Alaskan Malamute
Would you recommend a Malamute?
answer · Alaskan Malamute
My Klee Kai enjoys playing with puzzle toys too. It keeps her mind sharp and she loves the challenge of finding the treats inside. It’s fascinating to watch her figure things out, and it really highlights their intelligence.
question · Alaskan Malamute
Does your Malamute enjoy meeting other dogs?
answer · Alaskan Malamute
Yes, introducing new people slowly worked wonders for us. It allowed my Alaskan Klee Kai to get comfortable without feeling overwhelmed. Gradually, she became more confident in meeting new friends.
answer · Alaskan Malamute
Mine too, every single time. The confidence is hilarious for such a small dog in a big world. Honestly these moments are why I post on id4.pet. Real dogs, real personalities.

Kiddie pool in the shade plus frozen Kong. We skip midday completely in July.
