Q&A
answer · Black And Tan Coonhound
I think they’re fantastic dogs! But be aware, they do require a lot of attention.
answer · Black And Tan Coonhound
Yes, I would definitely recommend a Redbone Coonhound.
question · Black And Tan Coonhound
I thought we'd have a quick 20-minute walk... my Treeing Walker had other plans 😂 Anyone else's dog refuse to stop sniffing?
answer · Black And Tan Coonhound
I trust my Mountain Cur off-leash in familiar spaces. They are loyal and usually stay close, but I never take chances in unknown areas.
answer · Black And Tan Coonhound
Never runs out. Ever. Morning run plus afternoon training or we pay for it at night.
question · Black And Tan Coonhound
Is it just mine, or does every walk become a scent adventure?
answer · Black And Tan Coonhound
I wish I had taken the time to understand their exercise needs better. American Leopard Hounds are high-energy dogs and need a lot of playtime and outdoor activity. Initially, I didn’t realize how much they would require, and it led to some mischievous behavior at home. Knowing this from the start would have made things easier.
answer · Black And Tan Coonhound
For sure! Mine can’t sit still for long; she’s always ready for the next adventure.
answer · Black And Tan Coonhound
It's okay! He comes when he feels like it, sometimes.
answer · Black And Tan Coonhound
No. Next question.

I have to share the time my Treeing Walker Coonhound decided to chase a squirrel up a tree. He got really excited and barked so loudly that it startled everyone in the neighborhood! After realizing he couldn't climb, he just sat there looking confused, waiting for the squirrel to come down. It was such a funny sight.

I trust my dog off-leash in safe areas, but I would never let him off-leash in congested spots. Treeing Tennessee Brindles are energetic and curious, so they can easily get distracted or chase after something exciting. I always carry treats to reinforce good behavior when he comes back.

For sure, I'd get another American Leopard Hound. They have this playful spirit that can brighten any day. I love how they bond with the family, always eager for playtime or a walk. Their hunting instincts are strong, so they enjoy exploring the outdoors too. Just make sure you have the time to exercise them regularly.
