Q&A
answer · Border Collie
One thing I wish I had known before getting a Border Collie is how much mental stimulation they need. These dogs are incredibly intelligent and thrive when challenged. I often find myself looking for new games or tricks to teach him. If I don’t engage him mentally, he can get bored and mischievous.

I recommend Border Collies for first-time owners, but it requires commitment. They are incredibly intelligent and need mental stimulation.

My Border Collie has outsmarted me more times than I can count. They are incredibly intelligent and always seem to know what's up. I remember one time she managed to sneak out when I wasn't looking, just to chase a squirrel. It’s almost like they have a sixth sense for mischief. They really keep you on your toes!
answer · Border Collie
She always takes it upon herself to make sure everyone is accounted for in the house. Sometimes she stands at the door and checks on everyone, making sure we're all together.
answer · Border Collie
I absolutely would still choose a Border Collie. Their intelligence and energy keep me on my toes, and I love how they engage with me. Each day is different with them, and I've learned so much through training. They are not just pets, they truly become part of the family.

Around strangers, my Border Collie is generally friendly but has a unique way of sizing them up first. He's known to run a circle around them, almost like he’s assessing their intentions. If they pass his test, he comes in for some love! It’s amusing how he seems to take his job as a protector seriously. Just know, they’re very smart and can sometimes be a bit too protective!

I accidentally taught my Border Collie one trick... now he's trying to learn everything I do 😂 What's the smartest thing your Border has figured out without being taught?
question · Border Collie
My trainer says 20 minutes of brain games can be better than an hour-long walk. Do you agree?
