She usually barks a bit at first but calms down once she knows they’re friendly. It’s almost like she’s vetting them before letting them inside. Estrelas tend to be wary of strangers, but once she gets to know them, she’ll curl up next to them, showing just how much she loves company. This breed is really loyal and affectionate once they warm up.

If you have a lot of space, yes! They’re wonderful dogs, but they do need a lot of exercise and training.

One time, my Estrela Mountain Dog, Leo, decided to steal a whole loaf of bread from the kitchen counter. He proudly trotted into the living room with it, but instead of chewing on it, he just laid down and looked at us like he had accomplished something great. We couldn’t stop laughing! It’s a classic Estrela move to act like they’re the kings of the house. They can be so goofy at times; it's one of the many reasons I love him.
