I let my Vallhund off-leash, but only in secure parks where I know he can’t escape. They’re energetic and need the exercise, but they also can get distracted easily. The good news is, they are very trainable, so once your Vallhund knows your commands, it becomes easier to manage them off-leash.

I have this hilarious story about my Swedish Vallhund. One day, we were at the park, and he spotted a group of kids playing frisbee. He decided to join in, but instead of chasing after the frisbee, he jumped into the middle of their game and started barking at the frisbee like it was his best friend. The kids loved him and even started throwing him the frisbee, which he dutifully returned every time! It was such a lovely moment to see him getting so much attention and having a blast.
