Q&A
answer · Komondor
I do let visitors pet my Komondor, but it's best to approach with caution. This breed is known for their guarding instincts, so a slow introduction is key. I always ask guests to let him come to them first. Once he knows they mean no harm, he enjoys some good belly rubs!

The funniest thing my Komondor has ever done was try to chase a squirrel up a tree. He didn't realize how big he was, and he got stuck halfway up! Watching him wiggle and squirm was both hilarious and slightly concerning. Thankfully, he managed to get down without any help, but I still laugh thinking about it.
question · Komondor
I spent 15 minutes explaining to someone that my dog isn't a giant mop 😂 Does this happen to anyone else?
answer · Komondor
They also want to know how long it takes for him to dry after a bath, which is a while!
answer · Komondor
I was not ready for how much shedding we would deal with during certain seasons. Their coat mats easily, and you’ll need a good grooming routine to keep it manageable.

Strangers are always curious about my Komondor's coat! It’s like a magnet for questions. I find people often ask if they can touch it, especially kids who are fascinated by how it looks. I usually say yes, but I like to supervise to make sure my pup is comfortable. It's amazing how many people are clueless about their unique grooming needs.
question · Komondor
Does your dog prefer being indoors or outside?
answer · Komondor
For sure, mine does too! It's like she has a sixth sense. I feel safe knowing she’s always on watch. Komondors are naturally protective, so it’s part of her personality.
answer · Komondor
I think it might be tough for first-time owners. Komondors are big, strong dogs and they require a lot of training. However, if someone is willing to put in the effort, they are loyal and protective companions.
answer · Komondor
Definitely! Every walk feels like a red carpet event with my Komondor. People can't help but ask questions and snap photos. It's amusing how fascinated they are by his unique look.

Would you choose this breed again?
