Q&A
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
Definitely! There was this one time when my Jack Russell managed to push a chair to the counter just to reach a snack. It’s wild how they can put two and two together when it comes to food!

My experience has been mixed. While most of the time my Jack Russell gets along well with other dogs, he has a tendency to be overly energetic and can overwhelm more timid dogs. I've found that introducing him to new dogs gradually helps, especially if there's plenty of space for everyone to roam. Interestingly, JRTs are known for their tenacity, so they can play hard and require breaks. It's essential to monitor their interactions closely.

Absolutely, Rat Terriers are fantastic dogs! They are smart and loyal, plus they adapt well to different living situations. Just be prepared for their high energy; they need regular exercise to stay happy. I sometimes take mine on hikes, and she loves it!

I usually don’t trust my Rat Terrier off leash. They're very intelligent and can get into trouble quickly. I've heard that Rat Terriers can often follow scents and run off, so I prefer to keep him close by. Training and recall practices help, but I still feel safer keeping him leashed in public.

My Russell is a toy destroyer for sure. I've tried several brands, but he always manages to tear them apart within days. The only toy that has lasted is a heavy-duty rope toy, and even that is starting to fray. It's just part of their nature to chew and play hard.

My Russell is a bit of a diva with other dogs. They love being the center of attention and can get snappy if another dog approaches too closely. Engaging them in games helps redirect that energy into positive interactions.
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
Absolutely! My Rat Terrier is a pro at catching food in mid-air. They are so fast and agile, it's one of their best traits!

I love my Jack Russell! They are really affectionate and smart, but they also have a strong prey drive. It's important to keep them secure, especially around small animals. If you can provide the activity they need, they will thrive.

Is it just mine, or does your Russell Terrier have endless energy?

What's your funniest Russell story?
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
I've had my Rat Terrier for a few years now, and toys usually don’t last long with him. However, I found some heavy-duty rubber toys that have held up well. Brands like KONG or Goughnuts are great. My dog loves to chew, so I've also noticed he enjoys toys that make noise, it keeps him entertained longer.
