Q&A
answer · Dutch Schapendoes
I absolutely recommend a Schapendoes! They are incredibly friendly and get along well with children. Their unique coat requires regular grooming, but it’s worth it for their charming personality. Schapendoes are known for being intelligent and eager to please, making training fun.
question · Dutch Schapendoes
Is it just mine, or does your Schapendoes always know when it's walk time?
answer · Dutch Schapendoes
Yes, I let my Schapendoes off leash. They are very intelligent and have a strong recall once trained. Just make sure the environment is safe, as they can be curious and easily distracted. They love to explore and run, so it’s important to have a secure area where they can enjoy themselves. Plus, they have a great energy that's fun to see unleashed!
question · Dutch Schapendoes
Do you keep the coat long or trim it shorter?
answer · Dutch Schapendoes
My Schapendoes does the same thing! I spend ages grooming him, only for him to jump into a muddy puddle right afterward. They have such a playful spirit and love being outdoors, which can definitely make the grooming process feel a bit pointless. I guess it’s just part of their charm. I had to learn to embrace the mess, as frustrating as it can be sometimes.
