Q&A
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
For sure! My Jack Russell once orchestrated a whole escape plan to get to the neighbor's yard where he knew their dog was. He moved a flower pot, then climbed through a gap in the fence. I never thought I'd see him orchestrating such a complex operation. It's like they have a sixth sense for adventure. They really enjoy outsmarting their humans, and it’s always in the name of fun!
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
My Jack Russell is pretty good with other dogs, though he can be a bit bossy. He loves to play and often instigates friendly tussles. But sometimes, he doesn't recognize his size and gets a little too rough for smaller dogs. Socialization is key, so I make sure he meets a variety of pups from a young age.
question · Jack Russell Terrier
Would you recommend a Rat Terrier?
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
My Rat Terrier is pretty reliable off leash, but only after plenty of training. They can be stubborn, but with consistent commands, he responds well. However, I still wouldn’t trust him around distractions like squirrels. It’s vital to know your dog’s personality.

Totally, my Rat Terrier has some serious speed too!

I've had some luck with KONG toys. My Russell enjoys them, and they seem to last longer than others.

I totally get that! My Jack Russell can run around all day without tiring out. After a long hike, I thought he’d finally crash, but he just looked at me with that playful glint in his eyes. It's like they have this hidden reserve of energy. Jack Russells were bred to hunt and dig, so they definitely thrive on activity. I’ve started incorporating puzzle toys to tire him out mentally too.

For sure! Just be prepared for a dog that’s always ready to play and explore.
question · Jack Russell Terrier
What's the funniest thing your Jack Russell has ever destroyed?
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
Overall, my experience has been great with my Russell and other dogs. They tend to play well but can have their moments of jealousy. I've noticed they can get a bit protective of their toys. Just be sure to supervise and let them play in neutral areas.

Not really.

For sure! My Russell Terrier is always coming up with new ways to entertain himself. Just the other day, he decided to rearrange the pillows on the couch when I left the room!
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
I would absolutely recommend a Russell Terrier. They are spirited and great with kids, perfect for an active family! Just be mindful of their cleverness; they can get into trouble if not kept busy.
answer · Jack Russell Terrier
My Russell has this hilarious habit of trying to catch the wind when we walk outside. He runs in circles, looking up as if he's chasing invisible butterflies. It always makes us laugh to see him so convinced that he can grab the breeze!

It’s like a challenge with these dogs! I’ve found some toys that last a bit longer, but it’s always a gamble. I suggest looking for ones specifically labeled as indestructible.
