Q&A
answer · Dandie Dinmont Terrier
My Dandie Dinmont Terrier has a quirky way of dealing with new people. He will bark initially, then run off to his favorite toy and bring it back as if to say, 'Let's play instead.' After a few minutes, he's usually ready for some pets and attention. It's interesting because this breed is known to be quite affectionate once they feel comfortable, but they do take their time to assess new friends. I've found that a calm approach helps a lot.

Does your Dandie have a favorite toy?
answer · Dandie Dinmont Terrier
Never runs out. Ever. Ball forever is not the answer. Scent work or a new trick tires mine out faster. A job helps. Even silly stuff like carrying a bag on walks or learning a new cue mid-hike. Still figuring it out like everyone else, Olivia.
