My Dandie Dinmont Terrier has a quirky way of dealing with new people. He will bark initially, then run off to his favorite toy and bring it back as if to say, 'Let's play instead.' After a few minutes, he's usually ready for some pets and attention. It's interesting because this breed is known to be quite affectionate once they feel comfortable, but they do take their time to assess new friends. I've found that a calm approach helps a lot.

My Dandie Dinmont Terrier is usually a bit cautious with new people. He tends to bark at first, but once they sit down and let him come to them, he warms up quickly. It's funny how he seems to have a sixth sense about who he can trust.
