I typically let my Pointer off leash in secure areas, like the dog park or fenced fields. They have such a strong instinct to chase, so it’s best to know the area is safe. I keep a solid recall command, but I still get nervous when he spots a squirrel or bird. Just the other day, he took off after a deer, and I was a ball of nerves until he came back. It is such a joy to see him run free, though!
