I wish someone had told me how much socialization they need as puppies. They can be reserved around strangers.

Before getting an Anatolian Shepherd, I wish I had known how much they need to be mentally stimulated. They are incredibly smart and can get bored easily, leading to unwanted behaviors. Additionally, they are very loyal and protective of their families. This breed thrives when they have a job to do, whether it's guarding property or participating in activities. It's essential to engage them regularly to keep them happy and fulfilled.

One thing I'd share is that Anatolian Shepherd Dogs need a lot of space. They were bred to guard livestock, so they have a strong independent streak. Training them requires patience and consistency, which I learned over time. I also didn't realize how much they bond with their families, making them truly loyal companions. They are protective, and their instincts can kick in, so early socialization is key. Living with one has been a rewarding experience, but they definitely need a confident owner.
