Anatolian Shepherds can be quite independent, which might be a challenge for first-time dog owners.

I wouldn't recommend one without farm experience.

I've had my Anatolian Shepherd for about three years now, and I can say it takes a lot of patience. They are bred to protect livestock, and their instincts kick in, which can lead to strong-willed behavior. If you don't have experience, you might find their independent nature overwhelming. They require socialization and consistent training from an early age. If you're committed to understanding their needs, it’s possible, but definitely consider breed-specific training classes or a mentor who knows the breed well. Otherwise, you might struggle.

If you don’t have farm experience, an Anatolian Shepherd might not be ideal. They are natural guardians and need someone who can provide firm training and structure. They can be pretty stubborn and tend to think for themselves, so you might find it tough to manage them without the right background.
