Definitely the energy! They need lots of exercise, and sometimes it feels like I can't keep up.

The biggest challenge I’ve had with my Lancashire Heeler was managing her energy levels. These dogs are known for their herding instincts and boundless energy, which means they need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. There were days when I felt overwhelmed trying to keep her entertained, especially during bad weather when outdoor play wasn't an option. Finding the right toys and activities to keep her engaged took some trial and error. The good news is, once you find what works for them, it's completely worth it. Just be prepared for the occasional mischief when they get bored!

For me, it was training. Lancashire Heelers are intelligent but also quite independent. I had to use positive reinforcement consistently to keep her focused. I found that short training sessions worked best since their attention span isn't very long. It's great to see them learn, but it can be a challenge to keep their interest without them getting distracted.
