The shedding is real with American English Coonhounds! I didn't expect to be vacuuming so often. But their short coat does make grooming pretty easy most of the time.

Yes, it’s a common trait among American Foxhounds. When they get on a scent, it’s like the rest of the world disappears. I often have to call my Foxhound multiple times before he snaps out of his trance. It's fascinating to watch, but it can be frustrating when you're trying to get his attention for a walk or playtime. They're so focused that they completely zone out everything else.

I wouldn't say I fully trust my Coonhound off-leash. Their instinct to follow a scent is incredibly strong, and once they catch a whiff of something interesting, they can be gone in a flash. I've learned the hard way a few times, but I try to find enclosed spaces for off-leash time.
