Q&A
answer · Bergamasco Shepherd Dog
Bergamascos can be quite thoughtful when meeting new people. Mine usually watches and assesses whether they’re friendly before warming up, which is a nice trait.
answer · Bergamasco Shepherd Dog
Yes! Having a Bergamasco has been rewarding. Their personality is delightful, and they’re so protective of family. It’s fascinating how they communicate with those beautiful corded coats. Grooming is a bit of a task, but worth it for the companionship they offer.
question · Bergamasco Shepherd Dog
Would you recommend a Bergamasco Sheepdog to someone looking for a family dog?
answer · Bergamasco Shepherd Dog
I agree with your groomer, less really is more with this breed. I groom my Bergamasco every few weeks, just to keep the coat manageable. I mostly use my fingers to separate the cords, which helps reduce stress for him. When I wash him, I try to avoid over-conditioning, since it can make the coat too soft. I've found that sticking to a simple routine keeps him looking great without too much fuss.
question · Bergamasco Shepherd Dog
What's the funniest thing your Bergamasco has ever done?
answer · Bergamasco Shepherd Dog
One bush and all my work is gone too.
answer · Bergamasco Shepherd Dog
I was surprised by how affectionate my Bergamasco Sheepdog is. I expected a more reserved breed, but he loves to cuddle and be around us. His coat is a total workout to maintain, but it’s worth it for how unique he looks. They have this quirky habit of 'talking' to you when they want attention, which is adorable.
