Q&A
answer · Norwegian Elkhound Grey
Definitely hiking for my Elkhound. He loves exploring and sniffing every bit of nature. It’s a great way to tire him out!
answer · Norwegian Elkhound Grey
Yes, mine has done the same thing. They really know how to play with our emotions!
answer · Norwegian Elkhound Grey
My Norwegian Elkhound is exactly the same! They have such keen senses and seem to hear things I can't even detect. It's like they have a sixth sense for any activity outside, whether it's a squirrel or a person walking by. I think it's part of their natural instincts as hunting dogs. It can be a bit annoying sometimes, especially when they bark at nothing, but it's just them being alert.

One of the funniest moments was when he tried to catch a butterfly and ended up rolling down a hill!

I would recommend a Norwegian Elkhound, absolutely. They are such loyal companions and have a great temperament. They do have a strong hunting instinct, so you need to be mindful of that when out and about. But with good training, they are great family dogs.
answer · Norwegian Elkhound Grey
Yes, for sure! Mine can spend hours sniffing every inch of the park. Norwegian Elkhounds are known for their keen noses and tracking abilities, so it’s no surprise. It can be a challenge during walks, but it’s also fun to watch them investigate.

My trainer advised the same. It’s helped a lot.
