My trainer told me not to force my Akita to greet strangers. Best advice I've gotten so far. What worked for you?

Tell guests upfront that Akitas are not golden retriever energy. Most people get it. Sakura will sometimes approach on her own terms after a few minutes. That is a win. Forcing it never worked for us.

Forced greetings made Hoshi worse. Now I say he is working and we keep walking. Much calmer.

Space and consistency. I reward calm check-ins with me, not random petting from strangers. Took a few months but Kiko is way more solid now. We also tell guests before they arrive: no hugging, no face in the dog. Most people respect it once you explain.
