The funniest thing my Akitainu has done was when he decided to join a yoga session. He jumped right in the middle of downward dog pose, and it sent everyone into fits of laughter.

Absolutely! My Akitainu is super attached to my wife. He gets jealous if she gives attention to anyone else. It’s amusing but also a bit challenging.

When someone new comes over, my Akita is quite the guard dog. He'll approach cautiously at first, sniffing and watching closely. But once he senses that the person is safe, he becomes much more relaxed. It's funny how he goes from serious to playful in seconds. Akitas have a strong protective instinct, so it’s not surprising he takes his role seriously. I appreciate this about him, but it can be intimidating for guests who don’t know him.

I would say choose carefully. Akitas are lovely but can be very independent and somewhat challenging for novice owners. They require experienced handling, especially in social situations. Their strong personality can be overwhelming for someone unfamiliar with dog behavior. If you’re up for the challenge and have the commitment, they can make incredible companions.

Mine too, every single time. I stopped expecting dignity. It makes life funnier. We have a running joke in the house that the dog thinks they run security, entertainment, and quality control. Still figuring it out like everyone else, David.

Forced greetings made Hoshi worse. Now I say he is working and we keep walking. Much calmer.
