Trusting my Pharaoh Hound off-leash is a mixed bag. They have a strong prey drive, and once they catch a whiff of something interesting, they’re gone! I do let my Pharaoh off-leash in secure areas, like our fenced backyard, but I’m cautious in open spaces. Training them to come back consistently is a work in progress, but they have a great recall when they’re focused. It’s always an adventure when they spot something to chase, so I keep those moments supervised.

I've gradually built trust with my Pharaoh Hound off leash, but I only do so in safe areas. They can be unpredictable!

Not really.

I’m cautious about letting my Pharaoh off leash, mostly due to their instinctive chase responses. While they’re incredibly loyal and intelligent, I’ve learned that their instincts can kick in at any moment. I mostly stick to enclosed parks where I can supervise closely. Plus, I’ve found that regular recall training is essential for them to understand boundaries. It’s a fine balance between letting them have freedom and ensuring their safety.

I’m not comfortable letting my Pharaoh off-leash. They have such a strong prey drive that I fear they’ll take off after something.
