My trainer said teaching "settle" was just as important as teaching "sit." Was it worth it?

I found teaching 'settle' to be incredibly beneficial. My Portuguese Sheepdog used to be hyperactive and would bounce off the walls. Now, when we go to dog-friendly places or when visitors come over, I can ask him to settle down and he knows exactly what to do. It’s a great skill for any energetic breed.
