I've experienced the same thing with my Rhodesian Ridgeback. They are very smart, and usually, they get the command after just one try. Repeating commands can actually confuse them more.

You're definitely not alone. My trainer also advised against repeating commands too often. You want to maintain the dog's focus and engagement. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are independent thinkers, so they might just ignore you if they think they've already got it!
