Oh yes, my Ridgeback does that too! It's like he has selective hearing when he’s in play mode or napping. It can be frustrating at times, especially if I’m calling him for dinner. But honestly, it’s just part of their independent nature. They are loyal and loving, but they definitely march to the beat of their own drum.

You're definitely not alone. My trainer also advised against repeating commands too often. You want to maintain the dog's focus and engagement. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are independent thinkers, so they might just ignore you if they think they've already got it!
