I wouldn't recommend a Ridgeback to first-time owners. They need a confident handler due to their independent nature.

Ridgebacks can be great companions, but they do require experienced owners. They are strong-willed and need proper training from an early age. You also have to keep them active and engaged, as they were bred to hunt lions! If you're ready for that commitment, they can be incredibly loyal and loving. Just be prepared for their stubborn streak.
