I was really surprised by how affectionate my Afghan Hound is. They have a reputation for being aloof, but mine is super cuddly. I didn't expect her to follow me around the house like a shadow, always wanting to be near me. It’s like having a diva that also craves attention! Also, they have this unique way of sneezing when they are excited, which always makes me laugh.

I never expected my Afghan Hound, Zuri, to be so affectionate. People often think of them as aloof and dignified, but she’s a total cuddle bug. One of the funniest things my Afghan does is chase after his own tail in the yard, only to stop and look confused when he finally catches it. It’s a hilarious sight! I had great intentions of brushing my Afghan daily, but it rarely happens. Now, I've made it a goal to brush at least three times a week. Their coat is stunning, but it sure is high maintenance! I've also learned that the longer you wait, the harder it is to get through those mats. Regular grooming sessions keep both of us happy.

Generally, my Afghan Hound doesn’t care much about other dogs. He has a regal air and prefers to observe from a distance. When he does interact, it’s usually just a brief sniff and then he moves on. I think part of it is their history as independent hunters that makes them less interested in canine socializing.
