If I could go back, I'd still choose an Afghan Hound. Their beauty is unmatched, and they have such a graceful demeanor. However, their grooming needs are significant, which I wasn't fully prepared for. They require a lot of brushing to avoid matting. Despite the upkeep, their affectionate nature makes it worth it. They can be quite independent, which is something to consider for potential owners. I love my Afghan!

My Afghan Hound has a habit of dramatically flopping down on the floor after a good run. It's like he has to make a grand performance out of resting. He’ll throw himself down with such flair, it always makes me laugh. I swear he's a bit of a diva! It’s one of those charming things that make you love this breed even more.

My Afghan Hound usually prefers his own space, but occasionally he’ll hop up to take a nap next to me. They have such a regal presence, and sharing the bed feels like having a little king beside me. That said, he does take up a lot of room when he sprawls out. I think letting him sleep on the bed strengthens our bond.

I thought I would brush my Afghan Hound daily, but life happens. I usually manage it every other day, and sometimes once a week if I'm swamped. The tangles can become a real issue if I miss too many days, but it's also a nice bonding activity for us.

I wouldn't recommend an Afghan Hound as a first dog. They require a lot of grooming and training, plus their independent nature can be challenging for new owners.
