No way, I keep mine leashed.

Off-leash is risky for my American Foxhound. They have a strong urge to chase, and I’ve seen it firsthand,once he’s off, he’s gone. Training does help, but it's not worth the risk for me.

This breed is not for the faint-hearted or those who want a chill dog. They love to chase, and it's essential to have a secure yard. Their noses are just so powerful; they can sniff out a rabbit from far away, and once they smell it, good luck getting them back! But that adventurous spirit keeps life exciting.

My American Foxhound loves children. He’s naturally friendly and tends to be quite gentle, never showing signs of aggression. They have a playful nature and enjoy running around, which keeps the kids entertained. However, I always supervise their interactions, just to be safe. Foxhounds are also known for their stubbornness, so consistent training is essential, especially with young ones around. It helps if kids are taught how to interact calmly with dogs.

Absolutely, scent games have been a game changer for my Coonhound. At first, she didn't seem interested, but once she caught on, it was like a light bulb went off. I love how it taps into their natural abilities; Coonhounds are known for their excellent sense of smell, after all. Now she eagerly participates in treasure hunts around the house and yard. It's amazing to see her confidence grow with each successful find.

Never runs out. Ever. Morning run plus afternoon training or we pay for it at night. People think more fetch equals more tired. For this breed it often means more fit and still ready to go.
