He tends to bark a lot at first, but once he sniffs them out, he calms down and becomes friendly. It's like he's doing his own little security check. Bouvier des Flandres have a natural guarding instinct, so I guess that's part of his charm.

When guests arrive, my Bouvier can be quite the character. Initially, he acts as the protector, barking as if he’s ensuring everyone is safe. After a few minutes, he gets more curious. Once he’s sniffed around and realized they’re not a threat, he turns into a big goofball, wanting to play with them. It's interesting to see how their herding instinct comes into play; he loves to herd new people towards the living room. If I have treats on hand, he is even more welcoming, making friends in no time!
